Fiscal Fightback: Trump’s Budget Could Ignite Progressive Uprising

There’s a ready-made alternative that Democrats and others can run on—what the Congressional Progressive Caucus calls a “roadmap for the resistance,” also known as the “People’s Budget.”

This new budget points the way forward for Democrats

Out of power in Washington and around the country, Democrats are struggling with how to move forward as a party. Already the jockeying for the 2020 nomination has begun. What policies the party chooses to champion will be essential to how long or short the path will be to recovery.

The People’s Budget, Not Trump’s Budget, Will Help Working Americans

After President Trump’s first 100 days in office, it’s clear that his promises to help the working class were little more than a campaign ploy. His dismantling of Obama-era regulations like the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces rule and deregulation of the financial industry reveal what he really cares about—lining the pockets of America’s ultra-rich.

Congressional Progressive Caucus Unveils The People’s Budget

The Congressional Progressive Caucus, led by Co-Chairs Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) and Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), and First Vice Chair Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) along with other Members of the CPC, released the annual People’s Budget today. Real Solutions For Tax Day, Not Bogus Tax Reforms

Next up on the Trump/billionaire/corporate agenda in Congress is “tax reform.” Whenever you hear Republicans talking about “reform” of anything, it usually means a few really rich people are going to get really richer and the rest of us are going to pay for it.

PEACE ACTION: Pentagon Bloat Burgeons on Tax Day

On Tax Day, Paul Kawika Martin, senior director for policy and political affairs for Peace Action, released the following statement:

"While Americans file their taxes today, they should know that more than half of the government's discretionary spending goes to the bloated Pentagon — an agency that receives hundreds of billions of our tax dollars a year, yet has never passed an audit.  Something that the government expects of all taxpayers.  At events around the country, taxpayers say they want more spent on job creation, education, and healthcare not more endless wars and Pentagon spending which is nearly as much as all other countries combined.
